How PicsMatch Facial Recognition Works

Face Recognition

PicsMatch face recognition runs in 3 steps:

  1. A Matching ID is created by entering the name and photo of someone you want to find.
  2. Using facial detection technology, PicsMatch identifies photos on your computer with faces.
  3. PicsMatch recognizes the person in your Matching ID from the photos on your hard drive and displays the results.

Face Recognition Results

Matching ID photo:
This is the photo you load into PicsMatch. It is used to find people on your computer. Set-up as many Matching ID Photos for people you want to find on your computer.

Detected faces:
Using the Matching ID photo, PicsMatch detects faces of people in photos on your hard drive. PicsMatch can detect multiple faces in the same photo.

Matched faces:
PicsMatch displays the photos with faces that match the Matching ID.

  • Matching face - Use a face that best allows PicsMatch to match. Looking straight into the camera.
  • Matching photo - The name of the photo where the matching face is detected.
  • Similarity score - The face recognition similarity score between the face in your photo, and the matching face. Scores above 80% indicate a very likely match. The lower the score, the smaller the chances that the matching person is the same person as in your photo.
