DAYTON, Ohio - Facial recognition has always
appeared to be a technology of the future or a feature only used on
television shows and for military and government purposes. Facial
recognition began in the mid 1960s when scientists began to look into
using the computer to recognize faces, and continues to advance each
year.
Facial recognition technology recognizes the face of an
individual, and then measures features on the specific face. Each
person has a set of landmarks that makes up the features of their
face. From cheekbone shape and width of nose to jaw line length and
the distance between their eyes, the software has the ability to
measure each of these and create a faceprint of an individual.
Consumers can now use this technology in the comfort of their
own home on their personal computer. rough software such as PicsMatch,
individuals can now easily locate digital photos through facial
recognition, sort these photos based on people, groups, and key dates,
with the ability to print, share online and create albums.
Using the same faceprint technology, the consumer can identify
an individual within the digital photograph as an “enrollment
photo” and the software will automatically locate this person in
any other uploaded photos on their computer. e sorting of photos will
allow for easy use in scrapbooks and other projects.
“Sorting through multiple folders of digital images can
be a time-consuming and frustrating experience. We developed PicsMatch
to give photo users an automated way to locate specific photos of the
people they care about,” said Dave Gasper, President of Initial
Point. “The ability to do searches for photos of Mom, Dad or Mom
and Dad together, for example, will dramatically change the way
consumers organize, sort and locate photos on their computers.”
PicsMatch not only identifies photos by facial recognition, it
also sorts photos by their date/time stamp, allowing users to quickly
compile photos from key dates and holidays.
Within seconds, PicsMatch can locate specific photo
combinations, such as Grandma and Grandpa at New Year’s. After
locating the right photos, PicsMatch allows users to print, email or
export photos to editing or scrapbooking software.
PicsMatch will continue to evolve with updates and offer free
software upgrades to all current users. The software is available
exclusively online at www.PicsMatch.com.
